I woke up this morning with a knot in my stomach. The kind of knot you get when you sense something isn’t right, like a storm brewing on a seemingly sunny day. But this wasn’t any ordinary storm. This was a category five hurricane aimed directly at my career.

I’ve been a copywriter for over a decade, honing my craft, pouring my heart and soul into every word. I’ve always taken pride in my ability to connect with people, to move them with my words, to make them laugh, cry, and ultimately, take action. It’s more than a job; it’s my passion. It’s my identity.

But today, that identity was threatened. As I scrolled through some papers about AI, my eyes caught a headline that sent chills down my spine: “When Will AI Exceed Human Performance?” My heart sank. I clicked on the paper, dreading what I was about to read.

This paper surveyed 352 AI experts, and revealed a startling consensus: within ten years, AI bots could whip up high school essays with ease, and in just over 25 years, the New York Times bestseller list could be dominated by AI-authored books. It felt like a gut punch to my profession.

As I read on, my mind raced. What did this mean for me? Was I about to become obsolete? Would my skills and experience be rendered worthless by a machine?
